Homeschool?

I'm strongly considering homeschooling David next year.  He's not doing so great at school.  I know he's smarter than what he's showing at school, but he's too distracted there to really get into learning.  The school is doing fine, they just have too many kids in each class to give him the attention he needs in order to learn.  He's all for it because I told him that we could do more science and history than what he gets in school, which is what he really likes to learn about.  Of course we still have to do the basics, but it'll allow us to explore his individual interests a whole lot further.  He's also excited that I told him he can help plan the field trips.  This is going to be a huge undertaking.  Excuse me... I've got some research to do!

The Ultimate Bulk Buying Cookbook

So I just had to let everyone know that I absolutely LOVE this cookbook!  It's all about meat, and the chapters are organized according to types of meats.  What I love about it is that I can just take out whatever random meat I have in my freezer that needs to get used up, look it up in the cookbook, and I get several delicious ways to use it... everything from meat-and-potatoes kind of recipes to casseroles, salads, and more.  This will definitely help me when I'm trying to use things up :D

Cannery

So, I've been a member of the LDS church for 8-1/2 years now, and yesterday was my first day at the cannery.  It was pretty neat.  The best part is the way everyone there works together to get the work done.

My food storage right now is pretty much nil, though my everyday pantry is more heavily stocked than the average family.  I still have a LONG way to go.  I brought home a few things from the cannery to mess around with.  Now that I know how it works, I need to work on a plan for obtaining and rotating my stock.  I've got a goal!

Kids say...

David, Age 7 (obviously frightened) - "Mom!  I was in your room and there's something alive in there!  I think it's under your bed.  I heard it breathing!"

Me - "That sound is your sister.  You're hearing her through the baby monitor."

David - "Oh."

Kids say...

When we're in the drive thru (parking lot)

B - "I'm going to hold the stroller so I don't get (insert car noise here) like Daddy because some Pontiacs go there and they don't know what they're doing."

Sometimes it is glory, like when Jared saved a little girl's life.  Sometimes it downright blows, like when he got run down by crazy woman in a car.  Sometimes it's irritating like when he hangs up on me in the middle of a conversation or comes home from work late without calling.  But it's something I do to support the passion of my officer.  I consider myself an employee of the police department as much as him, and I consider myself serving the community as much as he does, because I care for and support a law enforcement officer, facilitating his ability to do his job with all the passion and dedication it deserves.  I just hope I'm doing as good a job as he is.
